AMGEN and the PCB organize the Biotech Forum: “Innovation in Human Therapies by means of Biotechnology”

Next December 15 the Biotech Forum: "Innovation in Human Therapies by means of Biotechnology" will be held at the Barcelona Science Park. This forum aims to open a debate on the research advances made in this field, and will be attended by a group of renowned experts from several different fields: the hospital setting, the business sector, administration and public research centers. The event has been jointly organized by the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) and the company , and will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the PCB's Antoni Caparrós Auditorium (Baldiri Reixac, 4).

The opening speech of this event will be conducted by the general director of the Barcelona Science Park, Fernando Albericio, the director of Amgen in Spain and Portugal, Jordi Martí, and the deputy councilor of the Clinical Hospital of Barcelona, Raimón Belenes.

The forum has been structured into two parts: the first fart will include several presentations and a debate on the value of biotechnological products. Speakers will include researchers Ivo Gut, director of the National Centre for Genomic Analysis (CNAG) –based at the Barcelona Science Park-; the head of the Oncology Service of the Clinical Hospital of Barcelona, Pere Gascón, and Juan. J. Pérez Ruixo, from Amgen’s Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic Department.

The following guests will participate in the debate round table facilitated by Antoni Gilabert, director of Pharmaceutical Care and Complementary Services of the Catalan Health Service: Jordi Sierra, head of the Clinical Hematology Service of the Santa Creu and Sant Pau Hospital; Carles Buesa, director of the biotech Oryzon; Lluís Ruiz, director of the consulting firm Janus Developments, based at the PCB; and the previously mentioned Pere Gascón and Jordi Martí. The debate closing speech will be conducted by Joan Rodés, director of Health Care Research of the Clinical Hospital of Barcelona.
